Having enough rest and getting the right nutrition post-partum are recommended for new mothers. Our confinement menu, developed by our Gleneagles’ chefs and nutritionists, include a variety of delicious yet nutritious meals that support a new mother’s recovery while preventing long-term health issues. Confinement meals may be customised during your stay with Gleneagles Hospital.

Learn more about common confinement myths and the truth about them here.

After giving birth, a mother’s body continues to undergo changes. Changes in hormone levels, body physique and sleeping patterns may affect a woman’s emotions after delivery. Postnatal depression can develop during the first 6 months after birth, and can last over a year if left untreated. If you do not feel right or notice yourself feeling worried or sad, seek help by talking to your obstetrician.

Care for your newborn baby

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

Gleneagles Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) provides specialised and advanced medical care for infants in a safe and nurturing environment.

Our team of experienced medical professionals are here to ensure that your child receives dedicated treatment and care.

Vaccination

Vaccinations protect against illnesses that may cause serious complications by encouraging the body’s immune system to produce antibodies against the disease.

In Singapore, newborns are administered vaccines for tuberculosis and hepatitis B. Your doctor will advise you on the immunisations for your baby.

The National Immunisation Registry (NIR) monitors and ensures that your child receives immunisation at the appropriate ages from birth up to the age of 18. Discuss with your paediatrician on the vaccination schedule to understand more.

Services include:

Neonatal intensive and special care

Newborn screening

Neonatal neurodevelopmental follow-up for premature infants

Birth defect consultation

Specialist consultation
